Shaving shouldn't have to be a fuss. Forget about razor rash, ingrown hairs and irritation. With the right tools and shaving regime, you can achieve smooth results every time.
Change blades regularly
It’s so important to change your razor blades on a regular basis. A dull blade can cause some serious irritation as it can snag on hairs, causing uncomfortable pulling. Not only do they increase the risk shaving rash, but the incomplete cutting of the hair can also lead to folliculitis (inflammation of the hair follicle), causing red raised bumps that can be unsightly and itchy. Never be without a fresh blade when you need one with our razor subscription service!
Exfoliate pre-shave
This step helps to remove any dead skin cells and promote skin rejuvenation, ensuring a closer shave with your razor able to glide effortlessly over the skin. It’s important not to skip this step, as it tackles ingrown hairs, since dead cells can clog hair follicles and trap hair under the skin.
We’d recommend a gentle scrub like our Walnut Pre-Shave Scrub.
Use a good shaving cream
You’d be surprised at the huge difference the use of a good shave cream makes. Not only does this help to lock in moisture while shaving, which helps to soften hairs for an even closer shave, it also provides a protective barrier between blade and skin. This protective layer decreases friction on the skin, and as a result reduces the chance of irritation (bye razor rash).
Choose a nourishing formula like our award-winning Shave Cream.
Avoid using too much pressure
Make sure to use light, long strokes while shaving. You shouldn’t need to press onto the blade too much, as the razor should do the work for you. If it isn’t, then it’s time to change your blade for a fresh one!
Keep skin moisturised between shaves
Cool skin and replenish the natural moisture balance with a good moisturiser post-shave. We’d recommend a moisturiser with repairing qualities like our Post-Shave Balm.
